Ask and you shall receive... The BAILA Society Performance Class is back! Our new cycle will begin on July 31st. Spots in this class go quickly so don't delay. Registration instructions can be found below.

BASo students and online members intermediate level or higher will learn an original BASo choreography, train it with BASo's repertory dancers and will perform it at a student recital at the end of this 8-10 week cycle.

Theory: ...You will learn how to find and listen to performance songs, how a choreography is created and structured and how to create musicality in movement.

Training: You will train just like the BASo repertory dancers, including body conditioning, stretching, spinning, partnerwork, styling and footwork, along with performance techniques.

Technology: The BASo online platform will have all videos of the choreography with music and counts, as well as video instruction for each individual piece of the routine (so that even if you miss a class you can catch up easily).

Recite: You will perform the choreography during a student recital at the end of the performance cycle.

The cost of the class is $250 to be paid upfront. Class cards can NOT be used towards the performance cycle.

BAILA Society, Djoniba Dance Centre and Peridance celebrate the Seventh Annual Immigrant Heritage Week
April 21, 2010

Declared an official, annual celebration by Mayor Bloomberg in 2004, Immigrant Heritage Week honors the vibrant immigrant cultures, heritages and communities found in every corner of the City.

BASo is proud to be part of Immigrant Week 2010 and will host public event with classes and performances on Wednesday, April 21, in Union Square, in partnership with Djoniba Drum Center and Peridance.

This will be a massive party and we need some BASo volunteers, please email us to info@bailasociety.com if you want to be part of this historic NY event and celebration.

This year Immigrant Heritage Week is celebrated from April 15 to April 21. Throughout the week, a rich collection of family friendly events, film screenings, art exhibits and walking tours will promote and reflect the diversity of the immigrant communities in our City.
