Melany Centeno
Melany Anne Centeno graduated from Stony Brook University with a
Bachelors of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science. She currently works at Memorial Sloane Kettering Cancer Center as a lab technician in the Bone Marrow Transplant Lab.
While attending Stony Brook University she was introduced to the world of dance through a Hip Hop Dance Crew, "DeJaVu". Training hard and taking extracurricular classes in hip hop, she became one of the main dancers on the team. Melany also tried out for the University’s Step team and continued to develop her dance skills with that group.
Upon graduating, Melany wanted to develop her dancing further and, following a friend's recommendation, decided to pursue training in NY Style Salsa on 2. She took classes and performed for a year with Xibicion Santo Rico under the tutelage of Tomas Guerrero before auditioning for the BAILA Society Apprentice and Repertory Dancer program.
Being on stage and performing is Melany's passion and combined with the gratification of teaching others how to dance provides her with the motivation to develop her dance skills to the fullest and share her love for dance with students around the world, on- and offstage.
