Learn How to Dance Salsa from NYC’s Top Instructors

Whether you’re new to salsa or have been burning up the dance floor for years, we have something for you! Our team is led by Ahtoy Juliana, who has been teaching and performing New York style salsa professionally for 20 years. We pride ourselves in creating a friendly and supportive environment that fosters genuine connections and great dancing. We believe that salsa is about community, and we work hard to give you the skills you need to participate. Join us!

How to choose a class: First, decide what level you want to take. If you’re new to salsa and don’t have much movement experience in general, you can attend an intro-level class. Our beginner-level classes will move a little bit faster, but are still appropriate for anyone who is new to salsa. Our intermediate class requires a working knowledge of fundamental salsa partnerwork figures, as we will be working on variations of those figures. Once you’ve chosen a class, take note of the location! We are currently teaching at Peridance, Alvin Ailey, and at Ripley-Grier.

Fundamentals of Salsa Partnerwork

Although this class is listed as beginner level, knowledge of basic salsa figures is strongly recommended. If you have taken our intro/beginner classes and want to improve your dancing, this class is appropriate for you. We will focus on foundational concepts and techniques for effectively leading and following in salsa partnerwork. Unlike our other partnerwork classes, where we work on specific patterns, this class will provide an in-depth examination of timing, momentum, direction, and connection – concepts that are required for all partnerwork figures. We will also introduce spinning techniques. There is no need to bring a partner.
